Is there such a thing as "Invalid Income" from PPC via Yahoo?

    Hello all:

I'm dissatisfied with my current monetizer and I'm looking at other companies. One company is telling me that visitors from certain countries will not generate any income if they click on one of the PPC advertisers on my landing pages.

This company has a long, long list of countries (over 75) where the income generated is "invalid". They tell me that any click throughs coming from any person in these countries will not be paid out by Yahoo, and hence, them.

Has anyone else heard of this? Am I being fed a line of bullsh*t?

Does anyone know of a link to somewhere on Yahoo! where this alleged list of countries exists? And for that matter, Google?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    I'm not currently showing yahoo.

But afaik. Yahoo will NOT pay out for clicks from ALL non-USA countries.
If they later identify them as international clicks they will usually reduce payment from all the posts I've read.

Until Yahoo goes worldwide it is essentially for USA-only. So what you can do is use GeoTargetting. Something like HostIP.info is 95% accurate and run a script on your page to only show if its USA visitor, then show alternative ads such as Google to the rest of the world.

Also note if you have a high Non-USA visitors, you may be removed from the Yahoo program.

    Thanks codeber:

    But this confuses me.

Let's say that the advertiser has the high bid for the CTR. A legitimate visitor from one of the "invalid" countries drill down to, and clicks on that link.

Does the advertiser pay the agreed bid price to Yahoo? After all he has received the visitor's interest, and the visitor is now on the advertiser's site.

If the advertiser pays Yahoo, how does Yahoo justify withholding, or reducing, payment to me? Again, the visitor got to the advertiser via my landing page.

Is the a list somewhere of the countries Yahoo deems "invalid" or "banned"? And why, specifically, are these countries invalid/banned?

even if its a LEGITIMATE visitor from an NON-USA country. Their clicks will NOT count or if they do, and Yahoo later identify it as Non-USA, they will refund the money to the advertiser. (Legally I would expect they would have to, otherwise that is fraud) In signing up to Yahoo the terms and conditions and all the faq materials will state that its only for USA atm. Whether they clicked it or not, the TOC says you will not receive payment for it.

As I said before. ALL NON-USA countries are invalid/banned for the moment whilst it is in BETA. You are recommended not to show yahoo ads to non-usa people.

In one line : Yahoo will ONLY pay for legitimate clicks from visitors within the United States Of America.
