I've seen this via email: But i think it's not real.. And it looks like a referral one... Is there such a thing as that? How do you earn by referring members to a site and they will give you a free dot COM?
i saw the above site , actually they give you a domain name free of cost when you refer 9 people to the site and so on. so when a reffered member does a particular action like buying/completing a offer , you get a free domain. these things might work but why use it? you can get a free domain when you choose a hosting plan in some hosting sites.
Network Solutions, the controller over the *.com DNS servers now charges just under 6 bucks a year for them to resolve a *.com domain name. There's no way to get one free anymore. Unless you trade or get someone to buy you one.
Years ago a company called FreeNetNames was giving .co.uk and .com away - i got one then moved the servers to a friends servers for hosting but the domain name was only valid for 12 months then i had to buy it back for about £10 for a further 12 months.
Is their website networksolutions.com? i saw their website and theyre charging 9 bucks... hope ill get a chance to have too anyway, im not really broke or something, i just want to look for ways to save bucks on another site im planning.. this is not really a business for me, its just a hobby
yes and no! Most are scams. The ones that are legit require you to do some offers or trials. Sometimes the offers are free like signing up for some spam mailing list, but almost always they require you to do a trial membership that's free at first but charges you like $30 a month if you don't cancel within the first 14 days. Most won't pay out until they verify that they've been paid which could mean waiting more than 30 days (meaning you can't cancel within that time limit). You'll likely end up paying out something so no they're not really free. Watch out as there are tons of scams that won't actually ever give you the domain, and a good deal have a referral or affiliate system so people will lie and tell you it works just to get you to signup in the hopes of getting paid themselves.
Its real there are some promo by hosting companies, but sometimes they require that you submit your credit card for subsequent year billing.
Not sure where you;re seeing that as I'm seeing $35: http://www.networksolutions.com/domain-name-registration/pricing-chart.jsp They manage the *.com DNS servers for ICANN. They in turn charge everybody else (ie Godaddy, Tucows, Netfirms) charge about $6 a year per domain to register a domain.
The cheapest domains I could find are from globat, $3.99 but they only offer this price for new customers.
