Is there such a thing as a GOOD domain name seller?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Ajeet, Oct 1, 2004.

I had recently asked about discount hosting. I can see that there could be a lot of support / feature / quality of discount hosting. But, I am wondering if there are really anythings to be worried about with going for a low price domain name seller. I mean if they will allow for transferring out domains, is there something else I should be worried about?
    Thanks

I've used http://domainmonger.com for years. They are not the lowest price; midrange I would say,but I've never had an issue to speak of with them. I think I've had to contact support twice; and got answers back within hours.

As far as I am concerned, as long as the domains aren't too expensive, and you get free DNS transfers, it's all good :)

I don't think any of the big domain registrars will suddenly go out of business.
Personally I'm with Registerfly.com for quite some time now. They're solid and quite cheap as well.

Godaddy.com is the best domain seller I've ever used and they are 100% legit and not to worry about. THeir prices are generally in the $8/domain range and that's not bad at all. I highly reccomend them and have registered probably a dozen domains from them over the last couple years.

Also they have the most affordable SSL certs I have ever seen

I will say godaddy.com or dotster.com - great interfaces for making changes etc.. and the prices are much lower than say nsi <- con artists

For the UK 123reg are the cheapest I've found. I've had no problems with them. :)

I personally like Godaddy.com best, I have over 200 domains with them, and I have never experienced any problems at all.
The only minus is the 4-5 pages of ads you have to go through before you get to the checkout page, but once you're used to (ignoring) them, it's not too bad..
Their prices are very good (cheap), and it's very easy to manage DNS, forwarding, contact info, locking etc. for single and multiple domains there.

    I've also got several domains with Namecheap.com, Domainsite.com, Dotster.com, Enom.com and a few more..
I'm quite happy with them as well, but I always end up regging my new names at Godaddy. :)

I use Enom, GoDaddy and Namecheap and am satisfied with all of them.

GoDaddy and Enom also have a nice backorder service ;-)

Competittion is getting fierce too, great pricing cuts on many of the top registrars. I'm paying 6.75 now, how's everyone else doing?

I'm quite pleased with GoDaddy. They have a bad repuation among some but I'm not entirely clear on why. They have fast servers, and nameserver changes seem to take effect within minutes. Transfers are also easy.

They have a bad reputation because it was easy to hijack domain names registered through them for some time.
They say they changed it, but I would still not use 'em anymore.

I'm completely satisfied with Enom right now.

Getting in on a $6.95 enom account has been the best idea we had. Communication has been great, like that you dont have to put up with all the pages of ads you do with other registrars.

If you are going to buy a lot of domains, Directi.com is really really good... only $6.99 per year

I have buyed about 15 domains, it works like a swiss clock.

    Support is good too.

    Good: domainsite and ev1servers

    Bad: registerfly and godaddy

ev1servers is extremely cheap and they did answer my e-mails (unlike godaddy)

domainsite refunded me the money for a domain registration that didn't go through for someoneelse's fault (namecheap, I ended up losing that domain, but, never mind), although for a few dollars I didn't even bother asking for it.

Registerfly instead still owes me almost $150 for a fault in their system that repeatedly debited my credit card. I've talked to them many times and many times they said they're sorry and that they would credit my card. Well, they never did (in 11 months) and I'm fed up. I'm going to make one last try and then sue them or just forget it.

Godaddy is fine but I didn't appreciate the lack of support. When I get tons of ads in their emails I would at least expect them to reply when emailed themselves! But again, nevermind...
