Anyone making money on Tumblr? I've heard it's just the "new Twitter" but I think it's much more than that. Anyone using it to their advantage?
I don't use Tumblr as much as Twitter or Facebook, but I visit it for the macros (just for the lolz). But yeah, you can make money out of it from site traffic and Adsense.
Gary Vaynerchuk claims that Tumblr is the next big thing in social networking. In my opinion it is like Twitter with the ability to post more diverse content. Before long we'll probably be hearing about the profit potential but not many people are buzzing about it yet.
Every blogs can marketed for bloggers to be able to earn money by way of blogging.. You can search on google on how to earn money on tumblr. And there are other blogging sites as well that do offer better options in blogging.
First off I feel the need to give my 2 cents about Tumblr. Tumblr is NOTHING new. It is NOT unique, it is NOT the "new twitter" or any of that. Its a very watered down "blog service" that gives you your own minimalistic blog on some crappy hosting with a crappy url. There is no reason for a web designer to use tumblr. IMO Tumblr is for teenagers to "reblog" pictures of guys in bands with tattoos and post sad lyrics. All on a very ugly simple theme. With that being said! Lots of money can be made with Tumblr! Number one is making a Tumlblr theme! Even though 50% if not more of Tumblrs users are underage girls, people still have credit cards and love custom themes. So look into making themes for Tumblr, it can pay a lot!
Going to start using Tumblr soon for a project i'm currently involved in. I'll report back what I find!
I use tumblr a lot and its a pretty cool social media. I don't anything about making money via tumblr though.
Are we talking about marketing your products and services on Tumblr or having adsense on a blog hosted there? I'd agree that Tumblr is nothing new. I have used it before as part of a backlink campaign but not as a marketing tool. Maybe I am missing something but I wouldn't devote a lot of my time to putting good content on Tumblr.

I removed my Adsense from Tumblr recently after a 4 month trial - for 3 reasons: 1. I was getting very twitchy about being banned by Google, not that I've heard of this happening. What concerns me is the fact that there are many Tumblr blogs on there that are out and out porn, there seems to be no control over this. The big feature with this network is the Reblogging of your posts onto their own blogs by one click of a button, so potentially your ads could end up mixed in with naughty photos, a big adsense no no! 2. Also the majority of the bloggers are not using original content, just copying each others photos in the main, Google also takes a dim view of Adsense being used on duplicate or copyrighted content. 3. I had posted backlinks to various websites a few months back and they still haven't shown up in my back link checker yet! Only usually takes about a week with good quality links.
