I have been trying to figure out some ways to make a bit more money on the side as I continue with my blogs and an idea that came to mind was to write PLR articles and then sell them for pretty inexpensive. But, before I do this, I wanted to know from those that spend their time writing a bit more if this is a good idea. The plan that I was thinking was to write these articles, probably 500 words an article, and then sell a set of ten for twenty dollars. Now, to ensure that the articles don't flood the market, I would only sell twenty packs. I just wanted to get the opinion of people and see what they think about this. Am I selling these articles for too much? Am I selling too many packs? Should I change the price and the number of packs? I'd really appreciate some advice.
Why don't you just do freelance. I write 500 word articles for 15 dollars each. If you have the qualifications it is easy. Your English seems fine, so I'd say go for it.
There's money in cartoon porn, death metal, cult propaganda ebooks, and anything else you can imagine. It all depends on how you market your product. If I were you, I'd write a pack of 10 articles, sell it at $10 a pack and limit the number to 20 copies. But before you go about doing this, ask yourself if you have the marketability to make it work. While the quality of the product is important, the marketing is what really matters. Cheers
Justin, I do that already as well. I just thought that this might allow me to add a bit more income on top of the freelance writing that I do. ::TechMan::, I suppose you are right. The ability to sell them is the hard part. I will have to sit down and try and figure out how I want to set things up. Thanks.
If the article has "meat," then it's worth buying, because you can simply rewrite and BAM, new content. However, if it's a 99% fluff piece, it's worthless. Look at it this way, when you buy meaty PLR articles, you're basically paying someone to research for you. You then take the research and whip it into something useful. As to the original question, you'll have to do it to find out. It's easy to come up with plans and multiply them, such as saying that you'll sell 20 copies @ $100 total and call it a day. It's another to execute. The proper price point will depend on your product and the market. If you're going to look at what others are doing, make sure you look at the proper competition. Every PLR service is not your competition. Some are good, many are not. Some are in one field, perhaps yours, others are garden variety. Some target the low-end webmaster, others the professional webmaster. And so on.
Marketjunction, I appreciate the feedback. I am going to experiment with it, I think, and see if I can't create a pack of 'meaty' articles as you put it. I figure if I can fill it chock full of information, people will definitely purchase them. Once again, thanks for the feedback.
This is the best way I use prl content is I find 2 plrs that are in the same niche make a new outline on the things I am covering in the book. write a new intro and conclusion try and fill in the gaps of my outline with the some of the prl content write the rest, get it edited. rebrand the book with a differnt title & cover graphic and write new articles around the new product for submission. It's called content flipping hope this helps a little Jason S.
Plr has been a nice little sidestream of income. I stick to topics that I know well, and produce a new package every few weeks or so. The initial sales are pretty good...equivalent to what I get paid for ghostwriting. But the nice part is that money keeps flowing in from the packages passively for several weeks or even months after that. It's always nice to have several streams of income!
