Is there even a point to create a sitemap for a forum?

As the topic says. I have been using Google's webmaster tools for a while now and haver been considering this. However I am not sure if it would hurt me or help. If you have seen my thread in DMOZ you can see i am an upstart forum admin and still learning about all this. I would like to hear your opinions on the matter.

You could submit a basic sitemap, with the main sections and subsections of your forum.

Then you could add your RSS feeds to GWT also.

Try using a sitemap generator. See what that comes up with and if it is too detailed, tweak it a bit :)

I would include forum threads in XML sitemaps. Just use list/analysis filters in e.g. this sitemap generator. That way you can filter of profile, login, print etc. URLs in generated XML sitemap files.
