There are a couple of sites out there that give an absolute link to a couple of copyright (watermarked as such) images on my website. One site removed them altogether and the other removed them temporarily when I pointed out to them they were in breach of copyright. I believe there is a way to have the my copyright images on their website appear as something else e.g. a photo of a monkey, or even cause a blank space to appear in lieu of the image. I am unfamiliar with scripting languages but if there is generic code for this situation I'd be interested to know where I could find it. Thanks for any advice.
What you're looking for is called hotlink protection (or something similar). While I don't know of anything personally, try using this search to locate something suitable: http://www.google.com/search?source=launchy&q=hotlink htaccess replace image Or, just use the tutorial found at the top of the results: http://altlab.com/htaccess_tutorial.html
