Maybe not the exact same But last month up to this month, I was raking 2 in the day for main keywords and 1 at night and somedays on page 2, Same Kinda Story for clients sites im managing. Things seem to be settled in the last 2 weeks and im ranking one for my targets. I know the serps change constantly but seemed wild to me for a few weeks and also people with 0 backlinks or noticeable work shooting up on page one
Sorry to hear that mate, I am now ranking on in 10 top ten for my very competitive keyword (thanks to the folks here at DP) and rising quick for other quite competive keywords in my industry. Hope I also don't get dropped. I was ranking NO 1 in yahoo and now only one of my subpages is listed and I am on page 4 or So. You can only do your best and hope you don't get banned, sandboxed, dropped etc
My 2 sites are facing the same problem. I don't know whats happen. I was receiving 400 visitors from Google daily. My site is 1 month old. But Now I m receiving 2 or 3 visitors per day from Yahoo not from Google..... Can Anyone tell me Is this a penalty or anything else...
yup my serp is also fluctuating.. couple days ago I was in 4th page.. yesterday I got to 1st page (position 4) and today I'm in 4th page again..
My rankings haven't changed a great deal but the description of my site that is shown on search results has. I had to double check my html to make sure I hadn't uploaded an old back-up, the description is one I used months ago and doesn't reflect the current source code. Weird.
Same here my one main site has gone from 100% hits from Google to zero hits. Ahhh. Thought it was my server or site but now I know others have this problem. Anyone with ideas of a fix? Or is it just Google playing a joke on us all? Regards
my serp jump today from 1340 on 1710. It is very interesting because it daily grow up only about 10-20 links
There is a page rank update due imminently and this happend last time this occurred. I find that it usually settles down afterwards but might take another week or so.
I can understand the dancing SERPs, what makes no sense is the site description that comes up in search results, bears no resemblence to the current meta info (and instead, uses meta info that I changed about 2 months ago)
My site is also experiencing fluctuations. This started at the beginning of June.. and my site hasnt recovered yet.
My site is fine! No significant drop just a little confuse in the traffics awstat say that I lost some traffics this month but in analytics says I gain some . . . But in my conclusion is just neutral.
I always experienced this scenario. I guess we shouldn't complain, but sometimes it gets to be a lil bit frustrating when you think you're sailing along and then, WHAM, Google pulls the rug from under you..
This happens when they do fairly large algo changes, what happens is they switch the DC with the new algo in and out of rotation as the primary DC serving the SERP results so they can gather data, make tweaks, put it online again, gather more data and so on until their happy with the changes. I've been watching it for a while, and to me it looks like they are putting more weight on click through and click back data from the SERP's. Sites and pages that searchers click back on fairly quickly have dropped rank, and sticky pages that people click through and browse have risen overall.
Sweetfunny, I think your on to something! +rep added. I have the same thing going on with my site per this post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=942358
Like always the mid year is where Google is the busiest, to those who don't optimized more keywords [the ideal numbers of keywords to target is 50-100] you will surely experience a fall when SERP updates and big G or Y or MSN does updates. If you only have about 6-10 terms ranking well and if they fall out of nowhere, then you have to change your site planning and target more KW's. We did feel the sudden drops, but some of the sites that has been kept far into page 3 has suddenly moved up to top 5. Last week some of those sites that have fallen have returned their traffic and most became stable.
