Hi Guys, I was planning to start a affiliate program for one of my sites, is it possible somehow that links on other sites can be counted by google as real link and not as an affiliate link???
A link is a link, Google has no secret way to know if its an affilate link or not... Setting up an affiliate program is a good way to get ibl from related sites, and so long as they don't have too many varibles (i think up to two is playing safe) they should all count towards your backlinks. I think the biggest risk with setting up an affiliate program is your content getting plastered all over the web, and hence loosing its uniqueness. Some people say this won't happen as google knows who produced this first, but imo its not so as it happened to me once... my (the orginal) site ended up in the dup content filter! Not nice!! Sue
Most affiliates will have a good knowedge of how to prevent pagerank loss using the rel="no follow" tag so dont do it just for that
Thanx for replying guys.. Will google count and show backlinks to my site with the link command if i will limit the variable to under 2?? I maintain a dating site and i am setting up affiliate program for that, wat all things you guys think i should have in my affiliate program to make it successfull. Any suggestions are most welcome.
