I have got a link from an .edu.au blog which is australian educational department but the blog is just created.

Will it be as valuable as normal .edu blog? Please give me your view...

.edu domains are seeing as authority domains. The link will have the value when the blog gets some age.
Nice you have an .edu backlink, it s challenging to obtain these types of links

Matt Cutts stated that all domain extensions are treated the same whether it's
.com, .org, .edu, or .gov however, he also stated that most .edu sites are older
and they have lots of backlinks so this is what makes most .edu backlinks
    valuable.

If they are referring to your site for reference, then maybe. I have heard that a site was linked from MIT and CMU and got better ranking from it.

yes, it will be just as valuable as regular .edu links meaning it will get no special treatment than regular TLD backlinks. edu backlinks provide the same value as regular backlinks

If this is the only link you have pointing to your site then it will be of no value, but if you have thousands of links then .edu links can be very helpful.

Yes, but we are talking about Australian edu which is like an oxymoron. So I doubt edu.au would give an extra benefit.

Eric is right, to a certain extent. A .au TLD (.edu.au or .com.au, etc.) will help you rank higher for searches on google.com.au. Otherwise, there is not a lot of benefit for google.com SERP ranks. It's still a great link, though, and can only do good things for your site.
