All I see really from looking around is that people write great affiliate link articles selling it. But is it really any better than a standard Wordpress theme? Also I want to dress up my site a bit, I posed a question about headers yesterday but noone answered. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on that front too.
When you see the term 'framework' -- be it HTML, CSS or JavaScript, your scammy sense should start tingling. Frameworks are universally at best a sleazy shortcut, and at works the quickest road to failure this side of just sleazing together off the shelf software any old way. To then put a 'layout framework' into the steaming pile of **** known as the theming system for turdpress? Though you ask "any better than a standard wordpress theme" -- Almost ANYTHING is better than a standard turdpress theme giving the herpafreakingderp train-wreck of ineptitude they have the giant brass monkey balls to call markup! Problem is 'genesis' doesn't do much of anything to fix what's ACTUALLY wrong. If you "view source" on their demo and don't have to fight back the urge to vomit, you're probably in the wrong business! What with the endless pointless idiotic classes for nothing sweeping developer ignorance of how to use inheritance under the rug, endless pointless DIV for nothing, presentational use of classes, gibberish use of numbered headings, HTML 5 bloat for nothing, microformats BS, redundant and pointless use of the TITLE attribute, and other dumbass "I can haz Intarnets" coding methodologies that result in wasting 33k of markup for 9k of plaintext and 4 content images, around twice the code for such a simple (and should be responsive) layout. If it wasn't for the ignorance of most site owners and the sleazeball developers who prey upon that ignorance stuff like this would never get deployed in the first place!
