Is there any limit for pop up to be progemmed in IE?

    Hello,
    Is there any limit for pop up to be programmed in IE8 in one entire site?, because my programmer told me that, my website (Penny auction) there will be around 14 pop up, it will show different behaviors, like when is a winner,zero bids in account, inactivity, retails price reached, bid over in auction was done, login, register.
    So some of those pop up does not show in IE is that normal?

    dont use javascript alert boxes and javascript popups.
    use php codings.

    will php handle all those pop up? working smoothly with any problem cause I heard it will overload the script, don't you think that?
