    All the wordpress blogs are using php and mysql. so shoemoney.com is a big name

    PHP is the most common language when it comes to web development. So, yeah, sure there are LOTS of famous sites written in PHP. Actually, most of them are.

    I believe Yahoo uses php, been awhile since I worked with them but I remember them telling me they hired one of the original creators of php and now use their own custom version of php. But that was like early 2000, they could of changed by now.

    oscommerce.com and every site that uses their shopping cart as it was written in php (same with ZenCart, X-Cart, and countless others). CreLoaded's oscommerce modification would be famous, they just got a $2 million injection from a VC to continue working on their project.

    SourceForge is PHP as well.

    Since WordPress is PHP, that's about 75% of the Top 100 Technorati blogs.

    EDIT: This forum uses vBulletin, which was done in PHP (as was PHPBB as mentioned above). Those two platforms power this forum, Warrior Forum, and SitePoint.

    I remember reading somewhere that Yahoo is still using a heavily modified PHP3 on some portions of their sites.

    Most of the top popular and famous site are using php.
    Such as yahoo, alibaba and many cms/blogs/crm/forums like wordpress, joomla, vbulletin, discuz and so on.

    Php is far more popular than jsp and asp.

    Examples: Gaiaonline, IGN, Vbulletin, Wordpress, list goes on forever.
