    Both are really good. There are some things/features that you can find in Yahoo that can't be found in Skype and vice-versa. I'mj using Yahoo Messenger already for a long time, and I;m really satisfied with it. I can't ask for more 'cause everything that I'm looking for a chat messenger are already present in YM. In fact, here in YM, there are a lot of features that you can use especially the conference/group chatting. Skype is also good, but I don't have much idea about Skype. All I know is that it keeps on getting famous nowadays especially that it's used for video chatting for those people communicating in distance/in different countries.

    I like skype because its function is more reliable than yahoo messenger. And it has a instant file sharing system and has lots of other new feature.

    The both of them are doing great just that i prefer Yahoo messenger to skype. Skype has been having some problems since it was bought bu microsoft.

    I think skype is more popular than yahoo.Because they use it internationally and can earn money for advertising skype.

    Both have some merits and demerits.

    Yahoo provides us good service but when we talk about voice chat skype is better than yahoo because it has a quality sound and picture.

    But now a days even yahoo is providing better service

    Recent Yahoo messenger loses credentials almost each time computer recovers from sleep mode by pressing a key.
    Prefer to close it than fill details again and again.

    Yahoo is well established and has some great applications and leads many of them. I can think of hardly an email user who doesn't have a Yahoo account. Before skype Yahoo also lead the voice chat world but after the launch of skype, although Yahoo may be ahead in a number of apps, this is one in which it lags behind.
