Try to think like Google coders think. Imagine, you are a user and see any page with some links. They are nofollow links, but you are not a robot and you don't know if they are nofollow. So you can see them, you can click them. Moreover if you have Google Toolbar Google knows when you click them. So tell me why Google shouldn't consider such links. We didn't research this issue, but obviously they work in some cases.
This is so true and most people do no think it is possible the Google can see people gaming the system.
no follow comments beneficial in traffic generation and no follow comments are also useful for other search engines
Barre, I get the feeling from your post that G may see it as negative/flag to spam to have no_follows, is that the message you are conveying? In my experience, these links have been very helpful to our promotion. Again, I think it's about whether or not what you are communicating, say in a blog post response, is relevant to the conversation and valuable to readers/on topic, etc... I'm hoping this is or will be the design since it helps to filter out a lot of the garbage sites out there.
Nofollow links are not complete useless, if you get lots of them, it will help you to generate traffic...
Sure, Ask.com will ignore the nofollow tag completely. You will get better search engine placement there. If you are only interested in the big G, a nofollow link has only one use; it could bring you traffic
Everyone, here is the fast. After google invent the nofollow tag, Google successfully create a world that has way to much nofollow links. Since caffeine update, Google does not consider nofollow as what no follow suppose to anymore.
Link is Link whether it is a Do-follow or no-follow. Only Google don't love the no-follow link for passing the page rank and SE ranking. There are other SE's also present who considers no-follow links as link & No-follow link on a high authority site contains always some values and another major source of traffic. So an a good link is always helpful for the site.
keep in mind googles aspect of link diversity too thought. they pass weight, maybe not as much as DoF though, still good
i think do follow links would helpful to your site to get good traffic and nice page rank.and you can also get no follow links with high page rank can also helpful to your site.but keep concentrate on do follow links.
In my tests that I have conducted, no follow links tends to have a value when you are competing for very low competition keywords. A couple of no follow links will get you to page #1 for a very low competition keyword (<200 allintitle searches)
