Is there any alternative to the discontinued Google Search API ?

    Hi,
For the past few years I've been searching for a good "Google Approved" way of automatically (using my own script) searching on their Search Engine. Unfortunately since they've discontinued the Search API key distribution, and officially said that the "Automated results parsing over the www.google.com web interface is considered illegal and the person/ip/computer can be banned from accessing our network". This pretty much leads me to the conclusion that they do not allow anyone to view rankings, search for data and etc, which is pretty much VITAL to our SEO and Webmaster survival.

    Anyone any ideas? Alternatives? Anything?

    Cheers,
    Venetsian.

I am also interested in this google api stuff since I need it for a script. too bad they discontinued it.

Overture used to have it too right? now its gone. Not sure if alexa offers it, or if its even free.
