Is there another way to have a community besides standard forum (phpbb...) ??

I'd like to start a website that would basically be a forum, it would probably work fine with phpbb, but I find it hard to properly SEO a forum as opposed to a webpage that you can place <h1>'d keywords in it etc..

Is there anyway to create a forum that can be integrated into a webpage ?
I hope you guys understand what I mean.
I'm primarily looking for a free option, but I appreciate any info.

Just use Vbulletin, it's worth every bucks. Install vbSEO sitemap and vbSEO software, those two are enough as far as I'm concerned for your SEO needs.

    thanks for your replies guys,
I looked at punbb, but it's just a straight up forum. I don't want a forum... but it's hard to describe what I do want.....

I want content down the middle, with banners and links down the left and right side... Posts are displayed in the middle, and scrolling down to the bottom brings to you a text box where you can leave your own message. No having to choose a forum or anything.

    Know of anything like that?

No, I don't really understand. After all, forums are integrated into webpages anyhow. Can you be more specific?

It sounds as though you may want something like an article/comments combination? If so, there are certainly existing solutions out there using blog software.

I understand what you mean, please give me a good rep if this is what you wanted.

After you installed vb, go to vbadvanced.com and install their CMS.

Is that what you wanted? A CMS?
