Is there no avoiding downloading, uploading and mysql if you want to use a wordpress.org blog. Or do you just have to woman up and learn what to do? I just wanted to know, trying to get a friend blogging but all she knows is how to turn on the computer, (I don't mean this as an insult) but she just does not care enough but really wants a blog. Yes, she can hire someone to do it but you know "teach a woman to fish..." you know what I mean, so is there a short cut to a wordpress blog or is it just long and narrow? Thanks
Maybe she could start off with one of the free blog hosts- say blogger or wp.com If she has a host with fantastico, then a one click install is possible.
gr8liverpoolfan, i will check out the fantastico situation and the one click install, but would she not still need to learn how to upload themes, widgets, etc?
You could always cheat and upload a bunch of themes. Easiest way I have seen to get around the neophyte issue. They can just go to the Presentation Tab and click a new theme, makes them really happy too. Far as plugins, I think you would be safe for awhile, until she finds something another blog has she wants .
Some themes are widgetized, some aren't. The installation comes with a default theme which she can use until somebody else adds other themes.
