whether clicks come from my adwords traffic or from my organic traffic?

My organic traffic is increasing so I'd like to reduce my adwords spending but before I do that if possible I'd like to see which group is giving me clicks.

    I use google analytics.

    Vagabondette,

Sounds like you are doing arbitrage. It's very difficult to know which is clicking advertising campaigns, it's better to focus PPC visitors on a specific action (not clicking ads) track conversion there, then bring them back to the site as regular visitors after you have captured their contact information.

If the purpose of your site is to click advertisements then you'll have trouble tracking because they aren't on your site the entire time. The only other option is to use a banner rotation script to be an intermediary between your site and the advertiser, but that won't work so easily with JavaScript rotations like Google Adsense.

You can setup ratios based on traffic source, assuming that all sources bring the same type of visitor. However that measure is skewed because not all traffic source has the same quality of visitor. This is why no one has answered your question.

    Best,

    Justin

Thanks Justin. My site is an informational site, I'm not selling a product so just getting them to the site to view the info is the action I'm looking for. I never really expected the adsense to do so well. I do have a couple affiliate links on the site that are actually working, but again, that's not the purpose of the site so I'm not comfortable directing them to a landing page geared only towards an affiliate program.
