Is there a way to start a indian bank account for non indian resident?

    Hello can a sri lankan resident start a bank account in india. I mean some online account setup for a cheap cost.:)

    it isn't possible to open a bank account in India without you being physically present, You are free to open up a bank account irrespective of your place of residence but your physical presence in the bank is compulsory.

    I am afraid your information is not accurate, According to the RBI guidelines, Citizens of other countries require their presence in India and have to produce their valid Passport

    You can open bank accounts online in the USA, but you have to have the information to prove your legitimacy.

    If you have NRI ceritificate, you can apply for a NRI Account with any bank of India. However you will need to submit application in India with your personal physical appearence.
