Hi All, I have sell some banner links in my site and I do not want to use "nofollow" as the advertiser may not like it. And I do not want google to penalize me for placing these links at my site. Is there any other alternative way (other than "nofollow") to code the link so that google will not be able to read / follow the paid links. Javascript Link? Hiding from Googlebot? etc? Please advise and provide method. Thanks in advance
yeah, but using a script is more obvious than adding a nofollow attribute, the answer is no, if you sell advertising that is fine, but Google says use nofollow tag so PR is not passed.
No follow on links or in a meta tag. <meta name="googlebot" content="nofollow" /> Code (markup): I'm not sure is this works for only external links or even for internal links, since it is placed globally on top for all links. Need some clarification on this.
I don't see why your advertisers would not like it. RobertD is right...using nofollow is an easy method. Google lists the other acceptable methods in the Webmaster Guidelines. Matt Cutts talks a bit more about this on his blog.
I have Added a nofollow Attribute to my Directory [Paid Directory] You think I should apply for re-inclusion now?
