You can't do that in blogger...just pay the 10 dollar a year fee and get a top level custom domain.

 

Don't get the name through blogger. Get it through namecheap because it's cheaper and if you want to have other pages besides just blogger you can. For example: you want a forum at forum.yoursite.com.... you can do this with namecheap, not with bloggers domain.

That is not a custom domain name, that's a custom URL structure.
To get a custom domain name, buy it at Namecheap and add it to your blogspot.
To get a custom URL structure I think you need to ditch blogspot and use Wordpress or something.
