Months. Thats a long time. Why are there never similar issues with Yahoo?

Also, why does this never happen to really big, popular content sites? I doubt if they ever have all their keywrods vanish all of a sudden.

I have noticed the same problem for one site of mine that was getting about 2500 uniques/day from google and now almost nothing
Right now it doesn't even ranks for his own name. This website is 3 years old and had great rankings till now. I never bought links, so I don't think this is a penalty.

    How many sites dropped?

Its not just a matter of one keyword dropping, its all. Most of them are no where to be found.

Does anyone know how often google updates its rankings? I don't want to wait another 2 months to get the rankings back.

As I stated in another thread this happened to me around september 2006 and I was out for about 2 weeks then regained my position...I was just hit again hardcore and hoping for the best, I don't see any reason why the rankings wouldn't come back.

Were they hosted on the same IP? If not, that is really sad. To have 1 or 2 sites drop out is one thing, but to have 20 is just awful. Were they in violation of anything might that warrant drop out such not having unique content, linking from bad neighbourhoods, etc?

Yes I also seen one of my sites killed by Google. My site is completly white hat, original content ect ect and held some decent positions for 4 of my targeted keywords for over 2 months. Then I go to check my sites rankings last night and in one day my site goes from its previous rankings to being de-indexed for 3 of my keywords and dropped 37 places for the 4th keyword........

On a second note I did read on Matts blog that google uk has been having a bug that has been causing alot of established uk sites to be de-indexed for no legitimate reason and that they are working on a bug fix for it.......I wonder perhaps if google U.S is now experiencing the same bug.........

Some are same IP, some not

Dont know, well lots of myspace and gaming sites, there is not much unique content on those sites, its mainly script ones.

Linking from any site can not be a problem, I cant choose who will link to me, it would be too easy to kill your competiotion on that way
