Is there a way to automate RSS updates?

I have a series of online articles that I would like to add in an RSS feed option for. I just looked up how to make an RSS feed, and it looks pretty simple. However, it looks like I would have to go in and update the rss xml every time a new article is added. Are there any xml solutions that I can put into my rss which pulls the <description> and <link> information from a web directory or webpage? Or is the best solution to use a separate tool that periodically updates the rss?

Well, if you write a script and CRON it, it can be updated on the interval you set with the cronjob.
