I thought I saw some ads where the link is not underlined. How do we achieve that effect without breaking the TOS?
more importantly, why on earth would you want to? regardless of how the rest of your site may look, I'd be incredibly surprised if removing underlining did anything but dramatically decrease your CTR
CTR isn't everything. If I can put in an ad gracefully, great. But if it makes the site look cheap I'd rather not even have it up there. Too busy in one area, I think removing the underlining would make it acceptable. In the meantime, ad is down.
Mister Zee, To me, when I started Adsense, I would design my page, add the adsense, and cosnider the site design sacrosanct. If the ad and site were a poor match, I'd sit there and tweak the ad for eons trying to make it match perfectly. Sometimes it never really would. Then I had this epiphany: If the site design looks cruddy with any adsense configuration I come up with, it was a poor design - for that purpose. I had to swallow my pride and compromise the site design so that the adsense and my site were mutually complementary. Blending isn't just about customising the ad. Once I set aside my designer's ego, my entrepreneur's wallet became happier.
Adsense on that site is for unsold inventory, blank spaces. Cream on top of the cake so to speak. Not the primary activity.
