Is there a size limit restriction for sitemaps

    How big can be a sitemap. I am planning to have an xml sitemap. Is there any size restrictions for a sitemap file? Maximum of howmany links a sitemap can contain?

    There is no size restrictions for sitemap files.

    While there is no file size limit, there is a url limit of 50k per page. so, if you have 50,001 pages on your site, you'll need 2 search engine sitemaps.

    According to the Sitemap Protocol, there are two restrictions on the size of your sitemaps...

    1) Up to 50,000 URLs
    2) Under 10MB in size (when uncompressed)

    make your sitemap automatically by plugin or just ask your service hosting to make it

    there must be 50000 links at most and the size must be 10mb at most
