Is there a secret to the perfect domain name?

The perfect domain name is a single word (or at most 2 words) domain name that specifies your work and will be helpful in your rankings as well. I have noticed domain names being sold and purchased for a 100 grand (no kidding) so you would want to get it right the first time.

 

Well, I think proper marketing is more important than a very good domain name. A good domain name is just a bonus.

 

If you want a brand, anything that is catchy and if you have some marketing to back that up, then ur golden

 

I've found the keyword domain name does help but the execution of the marketing plan is the big predictor of my success. For me, as far as branding, it depends on the purpose of the site. If I just have an affiliate site where it's a one-shot hit to get a name or sale, the brand doesn't matter. If it's a content or company site, I'll definitely consider the brand.
