Is there a sandbox anymore?

    Hi,

I got into a chat with a couple of webmasters recently.

They told how within a month of getting visited by Google and other search engines, presumable via at least a single inbound link, they were already getting SE hits.

Now in my experience, I often get a few hits early on but then the site is sandboxed for a good few months. For example, a site of mine took about a year to get all the current SE traffic, despite no updates between a year ago and now.

So, is there still such a thing as a sandbox anymore?

    thanks

I have seen a number of my sites rank quickly in Google so I think that the Google sandbox is a bit of a hype.

If there is, they are being far more lenient. I have had a few problems with competitive key words but on the whole its much easier. It was a bad idea to start with.

If its there then it sure is not as much of a problem as it used to be. I don't see any sandbox issues for any of my new sites.

you would only know it if your site was in it, if your site was in it we probably wouldnt hear from you anymore.
its like going to to prison, everyone asking is it true what happens to people in there? well once it happens to you i dont think you will come out bragging about it.

I believe one of my new sites go pu tin teh sandbox.. ranked number 2 for certain key words then put down to 81st.. lets hope they let that one site back into the playground. I liked being number 2 for a words that get searched 3k each day

Thats not the sandbox. Thats Google and I would suspect that they are just re-evaluating the back links that got you to #2.

It usually takes me a month. I wouldn't really call it a sandbox though, it seems more like the delay for Google to spider (recognize) any backlinks pointing to the site.

How so? Are you sure it's just that the site wasn't listing since google hadn't spidered any decent backlinks?
