Is there a mod like this in vBulletin?

I am thinking of switching to a paid forum, but I would like to ask if there is a mod in vBulletin where if you are visiting my forum as unregistered, you will not see some forums in the index page. But you will still have access to threads in these forums by URL jump. I don't think the "Forum is Active" option and "Display Order" variable will work, because these applies to all usergroups that have access to the specific forum.

    Thanks in advance.

It IS an option in vbulletin, as I accidently set it up that way on mine once for a board I wanted to open for a few days, then close.

Sadly I do not remember how I did it... though it should be in the forum setup/manager for that given board. "threads can be viewed by others" or some such needs to be ON while actually seeing the forum needs to be off.

If you are doing this to keep out of the eye of google, then keep in mind they can follow the same links as any other guest unless other mods are installed.

Yes you can do it. It is not a mod either. You can make it so that all unregistered viewers just dont see the threads from the home page with out actually blocking them from the threads. If they have the link, then they can get to it the thread. Just so you know, you do not need to turn it off.

    Hope this helps

I am currently testing my friend's forum. I cannot seem to find that setting in AdminCP. What do I need to adjust for this?

er ... this is really simple and does not require any mods ...

you can setup permissions for individual forums (not usergroups here mind you) by allowing certain usergroups to view/post etc in certain forums while making sure it is invisible/inaccessible to other usergroups ... You can also set a forum to be visible to all but accessable to select usergroups with this function ...

Find it here : Forums & Moderators > Forum Permissions
