Is there a maximum number of characters you should use in a URL string?

my company has a new site and the URLs are crazy long...something like

    www. acmecompanyservices.com/blue-widgets/brand-new-widgetting/monthly-renting/blue-in-stock.asp

will this truncate, or is it considered not SE friendly? In an attempt to put keywords in the folder names i think they might have over-done it.

    Thanks in advance!

Well, that's certainly not human friendly. Google will see it as keyword stuffing, due to the repetition of keywords - as you already suspected.
