Hi, I was just wondering whether there really is a market for coded/uncoded e-commerce templates here on DP? Those that dealt with this kind of work do know that it cannot be compared to putting up a page mock-up in Photoshop or coding a Wordpress template. Implementing these templates do take more time and do require a higher level of expertise. I don't want to offend anybody but this is a fact I know from first hand as I was (and still am) also doing Wordpress design and coding. From what I see, putting up, say, a coded OSComerce site for, say, 700-1000 USD to these forums won't really have a chance for selling. Can you please, share your point of view regarding this subject? If you would be to sell uncoded themes/skins for different shopping carts on here on DP, would you limit the options with the selling price? What I mean is, say you start with 50 USD and set a BIN of 400 USD. Then, you add that only the BIN sale will get the complete package of 10-20 pages. If the price stays under a certain limit, only the landing page will be delivered. Does that make sense? Many thanks in advance for your insights!
most visitor in DP seldom use OScommerce so it would be low customer here. also the price you stated was too high and most of DP member ot really willing to pay that high. for coding job i suggest you to find a job in freelance site. but you still can do someother coding that they might need in particular thread here though.
I don't think DP will be interested at the moment. I wouldn't do Oscommerce, Zen-Cart is the better way to go for designing templates. It is easier, is still being updated, and there is much less competition for templates. I personally am having trouble finding good Zen Cart templates without paying Template Monster prices. If you were offering good and simple templates, I know that I would be interested.
Thank you for taking the time to share this! Guruguy: OSCommerce was just the first thing I think about when it gets to e-commerce. It's probably because it all started with OSC for me By "without paying Template Monster prices", you mean the 150 USD price or the buy-out price (1000-3000 USD)? What would be the price you would be willing to pay for an coded/uncoded template? What rights would you like to resrve for that price? What do you expect the package to contain for thsi price? I'm not trying to "soak myself in" on you as a possible buyer, just curious about what a prospect is actually expecting. However, I would be more than happy to provide you with a free quote in case you need one! Thanks again!
When I mean paying the template monster price, I mean paying the normal price for a template that everyone knows is from template monster. i.e. I go to many sites, and just by looking at the home page I know its from template monster. I have been looking for templates for Zen Cart lately for a new store I am making, however there is a major lack of quality templates. If I was looking for a quality template, I would pay between $150-200 for a good non-unique coded template, that has say a limit of going to ten other stores max. I would also be looking to pay around $600-800 for a unique coded template. I know that a template from scratch costs a lot to make, however if you base it on an existing template (which is what I always do - I don't know how to go from scratch), I think it would take about 6-10 hours. So for those hours, I see the price to be quite fair
Thank you for the rush reply! I see that there might be a request for this kind of templates here and generally and that this need might be aimed more toward coded templates. I will probably consider Zen Cart and CubeCart as OSCommerce is probably the hardest way to go. On the other hand, 6-10 hours for a template might be enough for changing an existing template but for building one it is definitly not enough. Consider only the design phase and it will take me at least 20 hours to finish all the pages and then again 20-25 hours to implement them. May I ask which kind of templates are you looking for? I mean, as in jewelery, flowers, chocolate? Thanks!
You really seem to live in-here Thanks for your answers! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
