You can make three searches, after which the system blasts... Seriously, what a question at an seo forum.
Clearly I was more concerned with an upper limit such as 10,000 searches etc. Thanks for the sarcasm though. Much appreciated.
There is a time factor involved though. Google will lock you out for about 2 hours if you do too many searches in quick succession. I have had this happen to me a couple of times now.
Google never limit the time of search query . However it does limit your search query if you are behind a proxy, even strong anonymous proxy . Good luck.
Give it a try then. Do a search for something (raise the max search to 100 per page). Click through page 1, 2, 3, etc.. through to 10 Do this a couple of times and you'll find that you are locked out pretty quickly.
This is surely news to me! Though I have never had the need to do too many searches, but never knew that the system locks you if you tried to test its efficiency in a very short time! Regards, RightMan
The way I first found out was searching for my position in the google top 1000 the hard way, about a year ago After putting in a few different keyword terms and testing this I was presented a screen to put in some text and characters to verify that I wasn't a bot. Then after that, all locked out. It freaked me out because I wasn't to sure if it was a permanent ban or not. I could remote into the office, so I knew that google itself hadn't gone down and it was isolated to my PC. About two hours after leaving google alone it all came back. This has happend to me a couple of times now. But I now have better ways of measuring rank, thankfully
There is a limit. But the limit is only there to detect automatic searches. If you try to do 100 queries in 1 minute, you get banned/blocked for a few minutes, because they detect abnormal activity. But don't worry if you are doing real searches i don't think you never get blocked.
Only captcha is appearing when you do to many search queries in a short period (some kind of limit it is as you see).
