Is There a Good Way to Find Affiliates to Promote my programme?

I don't know if this was asked here before, but does anyone here know what is the best way to seek out potential affiliates for a site I'm promoting?

Using Commission Junction or similar services can be too expensive, so is there another way to finding these affiliates? I know that one tactic that can be used is that to see who links to my competitors and contact those sites one by one. But I would think there has to be a better way...perhaps a very popular forum they hang out?

    Ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

    Hi smeilach,

I do affiliate program PR for a living so here are some ideas. Submit to all the top affiliate directories. Very tedious so I know a company that will do it for you, better and faster than you can yourself. Some affiliate forums allow free or paid program announcements.

Then also you can search Google to find top sites that sell similar products and do a short VERY personalized invite to join yours. I don't do ANY email recruiting because it's tricky and some affiliates consider it SPAM. I know companies that will do the email recruiting I could refer you to though.

You don't say what type of product or the industry but one of the 1st things you need to do is a competitive analysis, to ensure your program is optimized for success and offers either higher commissions or some other benes that the other competing affiliate programs don't.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
