There are various ways to get people to follow you, most of which have been mentioned here, but what does the number of followers really mean? Ideally, you want engaged followers who will read and respond to your tweets, possibly even retweeting them. Saying you have 50k followers might be nice, but how many of them are really paying the slightest attention to what you tweet? Probably the best way I can think of, apart from letting them find you, is to do a search for keywords related to your niche, then look for questions that people have, and answer them. If you provide them with a good reply (not spamming them with a link), they may appreciate your help enough, and value your opinion enough to follow you. Personally, 1000 avid, engaged followers would be better than 50000 "robots" who are only interested in firing out their own tweets. Regards Jason
