Just stumbled into this subforum and know nothing about directories. How do people make money from them? Are they just used for traffic? I searched some, but couldn't find any definitive answers. Is it strictly a labor of love as suggested in the stickied thread? Got any good links that explain them for a noob? Inquiring minds want to know!

Directories hold many uses some including "searching" for quality sites including hard to find niche websites, "organic" back-link building for websites, "traffic" referring, as well "articles" of interest and some even "videos".. I could give you a little insight to acceptance in a directory, see the current site in your sig webtarded, a lot of directories would reject that in its current state, not to say that wont become an awesome site, but just an idea of what gets rejected in some. I dont know anyone doing it as a labor of love, you can make money charging for the sites being listed or have advertsing space on your site, i think their used for backlinks first and foremost.
Come on guys, do not exert yourself, can't you see the main what newbies want to know is: How do people make money from directory? Just kids... And that's so boring...
Ok il break it down, if you want fast and continuous money without any investment, then maybe try something else, if your hoping to survive purely on an income from a directory then maybe choose something else. Run a directory as part of your other package of sites that you may choose to run, its like adsense, dont rely on it to feed you, some people do. But theres lots of help here if you get one going, everything from probs installing to advice you will get help with here if you ask.
