whenever i search keywords in google/yahoo/msn, i only get .net and .com sites in the top spots

so why are so many people creating junk sites with .info and some people creating good sites on .biz??

would you still recommend .com and .net to newbies?

I would always recommend a .com

But you can rank well for a .net .org or whatever. But most people only put in the effort for .coms

There is no SEO advantage to using .com or .net over any other extension.

that's because there are much more .com or .net site out there than other extension
    .info is cheaper to register
    .biz if for business use

however, country tld has effect on google. UK google give extra to site with Uk's tld, so do other country

Also with .com and .net being older extensions, sites are more established so your not comparing apples with apples.

Exactly! They're just older and therefore have more aged links then the newer extensions.

I agree that there's no SEO advantage associated with domain name extensions. However, .com and .net are by far the most popular, and from a visitor's perspective...what they're used to seeing. This could certainly be a factor in how much traffic actually arrives at your domain, all other factors being equal.

I don't think .com or .info affects ranking in SERP. We can see wikipedia' website with .org extension can stand high in SERP.

So most important is contents and title suitable to that content alongwith link popularity make your site rank high in search engines.
