Is there a demand on DP for quality article writers?

    Hi guys,

I am a professional freelance writer and would like to offer my services to people on DP.

However, most webmasters seem to be going for people who are offering articles for $0.01 per word.

Is there a demand on DP for quality, original articles written by a professional for around $0.03/$0.04 per word, or should I be looking for other sites through which to sell my services?

Are webmasters after quality or do they not care as long as they have something that will pass copyscape?

If I was to write an article for $0.03/$0.04 per word I would still be earning significantly less than I earn for writing articles offline.

There is demand just so much cheap labor here it's tough to compete. That being said I'd rather spend a little more and have a properly written piece. You may wish to visit Blogging Jobs or check out ProBlogger's Jobs

No, but you can pop into the sweatshop that is the services section lol.....

Copywriting gigs around here are typically bad news for the writer. I am doing surprisingly well providing SEO services, but copywriting, design and programming alot of times are tough to deal with. Nothing like competing with someone who is happy to work for a dollar an hour.

I would still churn out a few things and get a bit of a reputation. You will stumble across a rationally paying gig from time to time.

Lots of stuff is posted here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60

specifically in the content creation board.

Quite frankly, no. There's a much bigger demand for 'sub-par' content though.

Sure there is. Take a look around the BST forum and you'll see lots of webmasters seeking "quality" content.

Trouble is, they know quality content about as well as anyone knows the person they bring home from a bar in a drunken stupor.

If you want to successfully market yourself there, you have to differentiate yourself using more than price. For example, if you're advertising quality writing services for $.03/word and someone else is advertising quality writing services for $.015/word, DP buyers are going for the lower price.

The DP content for sale forum is the online equivalent of fast food from McDonald's: cheap, quick and ultimately not so good for you.

Trust me, there is and it is quite possible to make good money. But you won't get people running to you as soon as you step foot in the content creation section just because you provide quality article writing. Almost everyone does or claims to be doing the same.

Once you prove your worth and build reputation, you'll see the hidden riches of DP. Just saying "I am quality" and repeating it again and again isn't gonna help. Differentiate yourself from the cheaper services who may or may not provide quality, add value and provide proof of your quality and the gains to be reaped from it.

Don't rely on DP as a sole source, because it takes time to get noticed in the crowd and DP is a BIG crowd.

There is, but it is more likely to come through private offers after you have established your credentials as a writer. Many people who offer high paying jobs rarely post in the content creation section because they would be swamped by offers, half of which would be completely useless.

Agree. Every time i open a new thread asking for "quality writers" i receive 20 PM's from guys that don't even know how to spell energies... If OP wants to win this race gotta keep work top class and get some trusted buyers.

Ignore anyone who told you no, because they don't know what they're talking about. The lowest rate I currently have a DP client paying is around $.20 / word, because of the bulk they order at once. In most cases, my clients here pay $.35 - .60 / word depending on the type of project we're talking about (content writing, copywriting, and press releases mostly). Oh, and I have plenty of clients from DP, so yes there's definitely a demand. I'm far from the only one either - spend some time in the copywriting section, and you'll see we have quite a few professionals who charge "real" writing rates and do just fine here without getting sucked into the slave wages game over in BST.

I've repeatedly talked about how the underground market here works, and what you need to do if you ever want "in." I won't repeat it, but you can find it discussed quite a few times. Peruse this section of the forum a bit and look for threads about the low rates. You'll find excellent information from those of us who haven't settled for them.

Unfortunately, webmasters on these forums usually go for the cheapest offer, even if the "writer" isn't all that great. It's still possible for professional writers to find decent jobs though, and a lot of times deals are made in private. Make sure you send your best writing samples to the webmasters, and eventually you should get some leads.

NO.... coz most of the webmasters dont want to invest a lot on articles as it is difficult to get it back in terms of revenues.... but this is the case only for small or new webmasters....which is almost all of us here :p

you may fig good paying job here on dp for writing once in a while but normally the job will job to who will work for the least ...and thats the sad truth :(

It's a pretty competitive since it's really easy to write an article. Most people just do rewrites and churn them out at a rapid pace.

    1. Rewrites in many cases (unless it's a PLR article or something the client owns the rights to) are copyright infringement, and therefore illegal - so no serious writer here is going to look at rewriters as competition, and what those folks charge has nothing to do with anything affecting the OP. Understanding who your competition is, and isn't, is one of the keys of offering any service successfully here.

    2. No, it's not "really easy" to write an article. It's really easy to write a piece of crap if your client doesn't know any better, but a truly original, high quality article is not easy to write; nor can they be churned out by the dozens like most of the garbage I've seen from writers who claim they can write that fast. There's a huge difference between professional work (which is what the OP sounds like they want to provide) and low quality drivel - anyone thinking it's "really easy" generally falls into the latter category (and sadly, they rarely realize it).

My answer is yes. But the way things go here is that a good number of people here put a lot of premium on the price factor and the so-called quality. Not what many people realize is that there are two general kinds of quality: a good one and well, the crappy one.

I've actually put up ads with my usual starting rates and gotten a couple of good responses from them. For the most part though, my ads were plagued by buyers who blasted me for being too expensive and saying that no writer should ever charge more than $1/100 words.

Stick to it! As people here get to know you, that "underground" that JhMattern mentions opens up and DP can be a great place to network and find clients :)

I feel bad for you. I can't remember the last time I had to deal with someone actually complaining about my rates. Either they can afford me, in which case they tell me about their project and we see if I'd be a good fit for them, or they can't afford me and they go on their merry way without wasting my time or theirs. I think one of the best things you can do if you start a thread here is to go into as much detail as possible about what sets you apart, and why your rates are where they are. Always cover how you add value beyond the cheaper writers, and then anyone bashing your thread about your rates will just look like an incompetent fool, so their comments are nothing to worry about. And if they blast your rates in your thread itself, report it - it's hijacking here, and we'll remove those posts.
