Fastweb i have discovered the same problem but no one talk about it...

For a normal 1-term keyword each time i reach the first 30 position in 2-3 days the site go down from 80° to 98° position... in 2-3 weeks the website gain the first 30 position and ... puff... go down in 2-3 days in 80°-90° position..

The home page in this time has not changed (only very minor changes). In the last 2 months all the backlinks are natural.. the website have an average of 2000-3000 unique visitors per day and when go down in 60° i have view a parked domain with pr 0 :(

    Update:

I've moved up to #72 in the tool I use at www.rankingcheck.com and I verified that by searching the actual keyword.

I feel like a bouncy ball!

You mean you are #47 when you search your "domain" (dot) com?

I guess it's a drop in your ranking because if you got any kind of penalties you will drop on all of your keywords and phrases not just one.

I also saw a sudden drop in rankings last week from page 2 results to page 7, so that is by 50 results. can anybody confirm whether there is such a penalty and what somebody can do to find out why the y have been given the penalty so they are able to sort it out.

I've heard that most sites that are penalized will never gain their position ever again.

Over the years, this has happened to me many times for various sites.

My theory is that when G is completely re-analysing your site for a specific KW or phrase, it sets numerous page factors to zero first. This causes a large drop. Then over a few days, various programs each doing only some of the many calculations get around to your site. Once all calculations are done, you are returned to something close to your original rank, maybe higher, maybe lower, but in the area. Again... theory only.
