I DO give a "fuck" about the environement. IMHO, our cars have zero effect on it. I recycle and all that happy horse shit, but our cars are so clean, non leaded and all, we just don't impact the way those hippies would have you believe.

oh right so because the car uses unleaded fuel it causes no harm to the enviroment? Unleaded fuel releases harmful nitrogen oxides along with carbon dioxide/monoxide which are greenhouse gasses. I suppose global warming doesnt excist though, its just propagandha from all those hippies?

Granted 1 person making a few personal changes in their life wont make a massive difference in the world but if a billion people made them changes then difference could be considerable in 50+ years.

All the CO2 and NO1 that ALL of the cars COMBINED spewed into the atmosphere for the last 100 years TOTAL is still far less that Mt St Helen's spewed in her first 12 hours of eruption. We are like little fleas on a dog, irratating to the environement, but in the end have little/no effect. STOP THE PROPAGANDA!!!!

How many cars are there in the whole world or in your country that uses the same car as you do? Volcano(no brains) eruptions is a natural disaster so count that one out.

Numbers are like 4 years out of date.
So comparison is useless using that data.
But it did bring up one interesting fact,
    big vehicles against small vehicles...
    Guess who wins out?
Give me a big vehicle all the time, for all the big vehicle does, and the fact that if a small dinky vehicle (one of those so-called safer cars) wants to go head to head with my big vehicle, I know I will walk away.
Just as I know that if I went head to head with a semi in my big vehicle, I would probably be carted away.
One factor never taken into account with vehicle testing...
    REAL WORLD DRIVING!
Geesh, go on the interstate and do 70 in a big vehicle and then notice those small ass vehicles doing 80-90.
No thank you, the misleading safety numbers are not for me.
Oh, did notice number two vehicle on that site as being the safest?
    Dodge caravan!!!! hahahahhahahahahha
So that means I drive the second safest vehicle on the road!

Pollution....face it, cars run way behind other sources of pollution.
    Think coal and wood burning.

i doubt that there is an existing alternative for fuel... a Filipino scientist claims to have discovered an alternative using water(if i remembered it well) and sell it's findings to japan since the Philippine Government can't provide money for research and development...

Cars my friends are only one (very small) part of the equation...If you're looking at heavy industry, energy usage is astronomical...Why are they not changing from oil-based energy any time soon? Not economically viable...It looks like it won't be any time soon either...

For all the people running their fuel cell cars from hydrogen, a question...Where does the hydrogen come from? One major source is coal...Clean? I think not...

I read an interesting book a few months back by Michael Crighton - "State Of Fear"...Interesting read that heavily disputes global warming...

In any case, if we did stop polluting right now a lot of the sunlight that's now bounced off the particulate matter into space would be heating up the earth instead...We're probably talking a few degrees in the near term if we totally stopped polluting...Can't go forward...Can't go back...Might be screwed either way now... :)

Hmmm...The best they can do is a handful of references out of hundreds...

Frankly I hope Michael Crichton is right. But who knows...If you look at global temperature changes over the last few millenia what we are seeing now is just a blip on the graph...A TINY blip at that...There's plenty of natual disasters/events that can knock us off the evolutionary ladder for good...

Ferret 77...I don't want to start an arguement :) but in evolutionary terms 650,000 years is a blip...If you look further back I think you'll find that CO2 levels although high are nowhere near the highest they've been...

Yes but if you look further back than that what was the earth like then? From i just read the homo erectus lived arround 1.5 million years ago so the earth wasnt completely inhospitable but i am guessing it wasnt great. The last ice age was arround 2 million years ago aswell. I am not an enviromental expert but i think the fact that the ozone layer is/has been damaged due to pollution isnt really something that has happened before or happened naturally. Though i am sure some people may regard that as hippy propaganda

The thing is, i would happily believe that there is no problem with co2 or holes in the ozone if you showed me some resources to back it up

there is no sources to back it up, there are no scientists saying that global warming doesn't exist, and that its not caused by man

There is no peer reviewed science refuting global warming,

There are some oil company scientists and micheal crighton who is trying to sell books, but no real scientists.

If you can post some please do, I am interesting in reading them

just out of curosity with all the experts pretty much agreeing on global warming, what makes you guys not believe them?

i agree totally. I get the feeling it tends to be the people who enjoy driving massive trucks or who earn money off similar things that tend to think that global warming etc do not excist. I wonder if that would be a biased view from them?
