Is the user reputation system accurate/fair?

Lord please help me, I think I am getting sick, this mental illness is because of all the threads on reputation on DP and the fact that it has taken over the members every thought and has ruined the editorial integrity of the forum since it is being abused daily.

Shawn should take this crap out and scrap it as it is causing forum members to drift from making decent content.

You can only go so far as a forum if 10% of the posts are on the forum reputation system

 

HATE to admit it. But I never checked it out before. Just saw in my profile the comments from people that have given me good rep. (Thanks guys!) Guess my head has been in the sand like that guy above.

 

I think this whole rep thing is very entertaining. Sometimes these threads about it are more entertaining than Reality TV..lol

 

It is idiotic for grown folks on a forum to play games with such a flawed system to take cheap shots at contributors of content on a forum.

 

That is why this thread is telling us that the system is garbage but entertaining

 

If it is entertaining to falsely give and take reputation to and from members who contribute content to a forum then there is a real problem with the forum.

If ruining a contributor and discouraging folks from telling it like it is the end result of that, it is a major problem for the forum.

It think that is apparent as it seems this topic is discussed a hell of a lot and much too much at Digital Point.

If folks can not be creative on this forum for fear of reputation loss then it borders on censorship.

Maybe we should all be afraid to tell the forum what we are really thinking, I think that is prudent at this point in time.

 

The comments can be very useful, both positive and negative ones.

 

How is this for abuse of the rep system? I just got a negative rep for a post I made in 07-16-2004, 07:48 AM. Somebody really has to hate me to go back that far to find a post to red flag??????

 

Really Bob, no one hates you here, it is just some idiot that wanted to get back at you for no reason, just be yourself, the forum will do best that way no matter what you post
