Is the UK getting a raw deal?

Why is it that most advertising programmes and software seem happy to rip off the UK user, when compared to the US?

e.g Ebay - Listing fee £0.15 ($0.27) in the UK and $0.20 in the US
Adwords - $0.01 minimum ppc charge in the US - £0.03 in the UK

Software seems to be just the same:

    Photoshop CS2 UK price £569 ($1046) US Price $649

Is there anyway to benefit from reduced US price on PPC ad programmes?

Aim your products at the US market.. but then you have to consider postage costs...

I presume the price of PPC is higher in the UK because it had to set it all up on a much smaller scale, while once it is set up in the USA the income coming in would be on a much larger scale.

    Because:

Minimum wages UK: £5.05 (BBC) = 9.317755 U.S. dollar (Google)

The current federal minimum wage (US) is $5.15 and has not been increased since 1997. (Wikipedia)

That's why things are more expensive, we earn more and employers have to pay more to get the same thing done.

Cross order, I'm not sure what conversion rates Google is using to determine where the rank the ads of a $0.10 paying US advertiser in comparison with a£0.07 paying UK advertiser. Would be interesting to know.

Another thing to consider is that all of the companies you listed are headquartered in the US. There may be hidden costs associated with doing business internationally, which are then built into their pricing.
