Is the selling of adwords vouchers legal? Let's say you resell some vouchers from a voucher reseller, is it legal or not. I am asking because i did not find any answer in their policy.
Every voucher I've ever received say "not transferable". Google probably doesn't like the practice of selling vouchers or even giving them away given that wording. They gave it to YOU after all. I'm no lawyer so I don't know if that makes it legal or not. I've never heard of a case however. Could they sue you? Probably. Would they? Not you and I but maybe a big player (I've always wondered where those voucher sites get theirs). Would Google win? I would not bet against them. In practice, they can probably do little to stop it and in fact, may not care that much.
Thank you for your answer, but i am still waiting for more opinions, and i would like if someone could tell me "no" or "yes". And a specific reason. And also a question for you: Lucid Web Marketing If you receive more vouchers what are you going to do with it because you are also not allowed to create a new adwords account besides the one you have....so?...
I've received 3 vouchers by mail in the last few years. Since I cannot use them myself, I threw them out. I could have given them away I suppose. In fact, my own sister opened an account right after the last one. She told me too late but also, her account was too old as they are only for new accounts less than two weeks old. I used to warn people not to buy them. Why buy them when you can get them free from Google directly. But also, because of that non transfer. Seems to me they could simply say you are not who we gave the coupon to so we will not honor them. But plenty are buying or getting them from others without problems so Google doesn't care obviously where you got it from. Simply based that Google doesn't object, I'd say it's legal. A commodity like any other which can be traded, even for money and even if you got it for free. And it's not as if you're stealing but if Google were selling them, I would call it illegal.
Something just occurred to me. If you are a company that gets the coupons from Google in order to promote their business (campaign manager like me, web designers or hosting companies), I would think Google stipulates that you can't sell them. Give them away to customers as you're supposed to do. In that case, that would be illegal and I'm sure Google would be not too happy. Maybe that's what iidesu was thinking of.
So if i am not a google adwords qualified individual or hosting company or web designer, i can resell them if i buy them from a reseller?
If they send me a coupon like they have before, that's just one coupon. They surely would not say anything if they find out I sold it as an individual. But if they gave me a thousand of them as an incentive for customers and I turn around and sold them all, I think they would have a problem with that as that was not the agreement.
So if i buy them from a reseller, i don't get them from google. And my reseller is buying from another reseller. I would also like to mention that my paypal account got permanently limited.
As an update for all that says that selling of vouchers is illegal: Just want to add alertpay in my site and i posed my shop to be reviewed by an operator from them. Here is there answer: So the only problem are the VCC's i will be removing them and try again. It seams that the vouchers are considered legal.
Actually it's not legal or illegal! But google don't likes you selling adwords vouchers to others , and you get adwords voucher only after you are ok with TOS and TOS seems to have including that vouchers cannot be sold to others.
The fact that Google gives away vouchers for free does not make it illegal to sell them. Illegal means there's a law somewhere that stipulates you cannot do this. I know of no such law. Seems to me that once you are in possession of something, no matter how you got hold of it, unless you stole it, you can do whatever you want with it. Does Google like it? Well, if I created vouchers to try to increase my business and give them away, I would not really care how the client got my voucher. It accomplished its purpose. If the client was crazy enough to actually buy the voucher when I give them for free, that's his problem.
