I guess the recession is affecting everyone online or offline.Personally, I try to make my online business recession proof by writing valuable content on my blog and diversifying my income streams by marketing products/services that pay residual income as well.

Wow, sorry to hear about the reduction in income and the job losses. Unfortunately, it seems the recession is affecting people worldwide. I know things are tough in the USA, but so far my income is still holding its own and remaining steady.

    Best of luck to everyone.

I wouldn't move to Canada just yet. The recession has hit us hard, lots of factories are closing down because of it.

    For AdSense publishers? Yes, definitely.

The problem is the reduction of advertisers. Advertisers no longer have that much money and prefer saving money. The consequence is that the ads we get will get more general or at least, no longer that relevant. That's potentially dangerous because that cuts the CPC we get.

If you want to read more about the situation, please read this post about publishers in the financial crisis, explaining everything in detail and pretty good. Pretty bad for us tough.

There are strong indications that online advertising rates are falling, whether they are pay per impression advertising or the pay-per-click variety.

This matters because most work-online entrepreneurs rely on advertising on their sites to bring in an income.

My traffic has actually gone up, as my site is growing, but my revenue has gone way down. I'm talking 400% from adsense and adsdaq. Seems like people are cutting their advertising budget, and the place they will cut first is smaller traffic sites like mine.

I agree and it seems like others do too. My adsense revenues are also down, even though my click rates are not. But advertising is usually a pretty quick area to get cut when the money gets tighter.

I think as a whole everyone is alittle bit down. Between 10-15%, my websites are down at least that. There is a dead period between jan-march it seems, then april it picks back up. then sept through dec your jammin, and the back to jan. i think thats the basic traffic trend.
