I agree with normanweb, I don't see any specific trend towards cheaper links, I actually think the opposite is happening. As the directory industry matures there are more high ranking directories charging higher listing fees.

My apologies as i didnt mean you or your country of origin what i ment was
places of very poor economy not any country or person in general... ;)

I as well raised my prices as im spending much more in fixing as well as adding mods, content, and new ideas so i raisied as well to $19.99 and from were it was at $14.99.. and its evidently not a factor to those that want to be listed in a directory thats worth the submittion as well as the continued editors efforts as it hasnt had any negative influence on submittions.

Yip and his Azzz will now have to pay 3 months in advance for any sitewides he decides to place on any of my directories...
Im not going to have someone come in and drink my customers juice and then leave like a thief in the night!

    thx

sometimes i wonder, what is the best balance between price & submission numbers?

    - increase price, reduced numbers?
    - reduce price, increased numbers?

someone shld come up with an optimisation chart to find the NASH Equilibrium like in GAME THEORY :)

I think, Cascandra has been the best backlink that i got (and that too for free), i think its a quality and really very cheap! Even if the prices are raised i am sure the number of submissions will not reduce!

    best of luck Mustafa!

Malcolm is onto a good point with links being cheaper in 3rd world countries, the links soon get penalised and devalued though so that they do not pass as much PageRank.

"Malcolm is onto a good point with links being cheaper in 3rd world countries, the links soon get penalised and devalued though so that they do not pass as much PageRank." - Are you saying that links from other countries get devalued because they sell them cheap?

    Why?
please use google search for listed links. you will see the results. cascandra provides great backlinks for that sites. ;)
Also my directory currently located on here http://www.google.com/search?q=web+directory&hl=en&lr=&safe=active&start=30&sa=N
    with 'web directory' keyword.

    Thanks,
    Mustafa

In the past I have bought links for clients from third world countries on authority sites at good prices (this is when I 1st started I do not buy links for clients anymore) and what happens is the sites end up selling 20 random links on every page because they like the cash, the links get devauled and the sites loose their PR, check out www.metimes.com this site used to have a PR8 homepage and all main sub-pages were PR7, all links have been devalued and the site has lost PR.

I never said anything about anyones site bar www.metimes.com or about which countries were third world. IMHO all sites are treated equally but when people start selling twenty random links on every page of their site for cash the links and the site will get devalued.

how can you say other countries as third world countries?

We can also say that your country is 3 world country

Actually selling links based upon the PR is the funniest thing!

This is not strange. The simple answer is that you will get your link on a PR0 or PR1 page so its not worth more than $ 4.95.

http://www.metimes.com/ is a PR6 so I am still not that sure what you are talking about. Lots of sites PR goes up and down that is life and 'G' algorthym. If anyone over-sells links, from any country they will be devalued.
