Is the money really in the list?

Other than the IM industry, does it really pay off to have a list? I've alway put it off because I have multiple sites and amount of additional work scares me off.

    Thanks for your feedback.

YES! It really does pay to have a list.

I have lists in about 4 different niches and although it's a lot of work to keep my lists "happy" it is completly worth it.

Because when I come across an offer that applies to any one of my niches, I send out a broadcast and end up making a nice chunk of change.

Mind you, if your sending "offers" to your list every week, your not going to do as well, but if you keep them happy with good content they will pay the bills!

What's this list that you are talking about? Is it just an email list?

Yes and no – personally, I think the money is in how you manage your list. Building a targeted list is easy to do, but many IM’ers make the mistake of hammering their list with crap offers for short-term results. This sets up a vicious cycle of people unsubscribing, rebuilding the list and repeating the process over and over.

You’re far better off making the effort to manage your list by providing good quality information and other incentives for remaining on your list and then promote quality offers within your niche at a rate that won’t tick your subscribers off.

You’ll convert higher and see fewer unsubscribes if you focus on long-term results. The key is building a relationship with your list that will last for years to come ;)

Yes it pays off to have a list in any niche or industry. Returning customers are the life blood of any businesses. If you're worried about extra work, please don't, because autoresponders like aweber or getresponse allow you to setup multiple lists for your multiple websites very easily, and the work will pay off itself many times over.

Another extra benefit of having your own list is you get to play by your own rules. With any other marketing method (PPC, forum marketing, eBay...), you're subjected to the rules and changes of other companies and the only way to protect yourself is to have your own customers.
