Marc Andreessen, (founder and whiz kid of noew defunct Netscape) once said on "Charlie Rose" that iphone is first phone with its own operating system. Is he correct or he does not know what he is talking about? :D

He doesn't know what he is talking about.

What about the old Nokia phones? Or Samsung phones? They all had their own operating system. True, they were not as advanced as the IOS, but still, they were operating systems nonetheless.

Not necessarily. For a phone to operate it must have its own software or operating system which handles all of the processes of the device. This means that the iPhone isn't the first phone to have an OS.
