    Take it as a general poll..

    Before submitting to google sitempas, my site used to crawl normally.

    Now..

    Daily 3 times google is downloading my xml site map. Once in a week my index page. That's it..

    Now I would like to know what I did wrong...????:mad:

    Is it really worth of trying google sitemaps if one hasn't??

    I havn't submitted to google sitemaps and I don't think it makes a difference. Those who have will be able to tell us.

    If a site is decent google will crawl it so I'm not really bothered.

    @seolion:

    What values did you provide for your frequency and priority?

    Hi jward, I have been working on the back links for the same. I have some links coming from good sites too. Is that you are speaking in terms of frequencies and priorities?

    I launched 2 new sites 2 weeks ago. Pointed the same amount of co-op weight to both of them. But only did a sitemap for 1, the one with the sitemap had 9000 pages in Google within a week (the entire site), the other still only has the index page. I did up a sitemap for the other one yesterday, so we'll see if it follows the same pattern.

    @JoeO:

    Well it certainly seems to have been very effective for site. Keep us posted on the other now that you have a Google Sitemap in place.

    @seolion:

    The XML format for Google sitemap supports frequency and priority values for each page (URL) that is contained within in. Frequency gives Google an indication of how often you expect the content of the page to change. Priority gives Google an indication of how important this page is relative to other pages on your site. In theory, these two values are combined to assist Google in determining which of your pages to crawl first & how often to re-crawl individual pages.

    FYI Our Google Sitemap supports automated Smart Priority and Smart Frequency features - Of course, this is for vBulletin only, so it is only useful for you if you are running a vBulletin forum.

    You can find more information on the protocol here:

    Hi Jward,

    I had created my xml site map using Vigos Gsitemap tool, which didn't create the site map with these attributes.
    Let me try adding these attributes in the sitemap.

    Thanks by the way...
