I optimised one of my site for a not-so-competitive keyword that here in Italy got searched over 7 million times (EXACT SEARCH) per month according to big G tool, and at the moment I'm in the second page for this keyword results. With such a huge number of searches, how come that I have got not one single visit yet?
Are you sure you are looking at the searches right? You are using the Adword External Tool correct? Need a bit more information. Also, what Google are you using? .com?
The google keyword tool also includes that word as part of other keywords. For example, "balloon monkey" would also include people looking for "blue balloon monkey". Might be because of a song name or something in your case.
The bottom line is that you should absolutely NEVER rely on any tools to be reliable -- not even within an "order of magnitude" -- in predicting search volumes for specific keywords or even "keyword families".
I looked at a lot of keywords and did an algorithmic sheet. They are okay but backlinks, and permalinks, and other postings drive the traffic. Key words are good but driving traffic via methods works well. For example, google the words youtube gateway method and see how more traffic can be driven via u tube.... Or go see another page and do PPC stuff... man lots of stuff out there.. you need to experiment!.. Google is only one way ... you can buy a keyword analysis at godaddy too!
Are you sure really you've chosen a non-competitive keyword? Having a ranking in the second page of Google's search results is not that good. You need to allot more time in optimizing your site to improve your ranking.
Well, considering that the site is not yet 2-weeks old and that I've done only on-site optimization (no backlinks yet), I think that being in Google 2nd page is not that bad The thing is that giving the huge amount of searches per month, it's not a good signal that I'm not getting any visitors despite my SERP position...I think there has to be something wrong with G's data about this keyword (it can't be a song name though, RandomGuy...I still have to listen to a song about a marketing niche ).
Inspect more if you are really ranking for that particular keyword. Try to use US proxy site, open Google.com then search the keyword and see if your site is really there. Also use this tool... http://oyoy.eu/google/world/search.aspx
I tought the same, in fact I suspect that Google threw me up there just for a while as often happens with new sites...that doesn't change the fact that I'm not having visits at all.
pretty sure the keyword tool is as bogus as bogus gets. try exact on some things like: [deteriorate] [maps] the keyword tool counts search volume from content network partners i believe i find that it's better to use the traffic estimator tool for prospecting terms plenty of others have written about how the keyword tool and traffic estimator differentiate.. try it for yourself and see
Lol, using the traffic estimator tool with my keywords, it says that I could get 1-3 clicks per day...huuum, then I think I could say goodbye to my hope of having found a gold mine domain
