Suppose that I want to target a good two words keyword, lets say for example "Two Words". If I want to register a domain with those words on it, and I found that the .com and .net are already taken, If I have availability on the .ws or .sc extension what should I do? ...Is it better to register "TwoWords.ws" or a variation that is still available on .com, like "webTwoWords.com" or "TwoWordsnet.com" And if I have the "Two-Words.com" available? For SEO purposes is the extension relevant? What are your experiences on this matter? Best regards and thanks in advance
I suggest Two-Words.com or, as a second choice, TwoWordsnet.com. Why? '-' is the best seo friendly char for domain name, and Your domain will still contain only these two keywords. TwoWordsnet.com as a second choice ( when we're choosing only between TwoWordsnet.com and TwoWords.ws) just because of '.com' extension.
The extension doesn't matter for SEO purposes. The hyphen instead of a "conjoined" phrase makes a bit of a difference. For memorability for human visitors, .com still has an advantage if you can get it but that will presumably decline over time as the others become more common.
I'd say the extension doesn't affect SEO but I'd much rather go with a .com over anything else. In some cases a .net is fine but my choice is .com just for the purposes of type in's and repeat visitors.
minstrel is correct. The extension doesn't matter in terms of SEO. Check out this article - Self Domain Appraisal – The Do It Yourself Test at forums.seochat.com/showthread.php?p=237625#post237625. Sheeesh... Domain extensions matter when it comes to getting backlinks. If your site has a couple of backlinks from .edu or .gov domains, then it will be definitely positive for your rankings.
