Is that the sign of getting penalized?

    Hello,

I have a site that was ranking top 5 a few weeks ago and now it has dropped to 11-12 position. I have the main keyword on the very beginning on the page title and I have been getting links to the site "quite aggressively"(about 10 per day) in the past week or so.

do you guys think my site has been penalized? If so, what should I do now?

    Thanks

If the site is new, this is a normal situation. Goes high first weeks and then.... goes out.

Sites drop after a few weeks unless you get popular.

This is only the part of fluctuation in Ranking after PR update. Many webmasters are facing this problem including me. So just carry on with your work and try to get backlinks.

Also wanna say don't has concern about 10 links per day they are not too much......

As SCUBITA said it cud be the reason of fresh site also but if it is not fresh site then it's part of Fluctuation in Rankings.............

I don't think you have been subject to a penalty because penalties usually move your site down by either 30, 350 or 950 either that or you get banned completely.

if those 10 links a day you are getting all have the same anchor text, and the keyword in the anchor text is the keyword you are targeting on that page, there is a chance your rankings were temporarily decreased because of a high link velocity. Definitely stop getting links with that same anchor text, use other similar words for the time being, and your ranking should come back.

Maybe you tried to hard? That sometimes ruins your seo.

thanks for the advice guys, no my site is not new (3 years old). Yea from I can remember nearly 90% of the links I got are same or begins with the same word. So if my anchor links were "hot blogging tips", should I now avoid having ANY of the three words?
